Our Worship

It's strange really: a small room, a cemetery chapel, a borrowed space. Our places of worship are neither grand nor traditional, and yet they're all so strong and dependable. They are humble spaces - more catacomb than cathedral - and perhaps that partly determines who we are.

So who are we?

Well, many of us are local - but we welcome people from afar. A few of us gather for Vespers on Saturday evenings and on the eves of the Great Feasts but usually when we meet, we only really do one thing: the Divine Liturgy. This is the heart and centre of our Faith. And it's here, in these humble spaces, in the Divine Liturgy, that we meet one another and meet God. We hope that we are sent from here to meet God in others too - indeed, to bring something of the divine to all the people we encounter. So sometimes, when the sunlight shines through the window and picks out rays on the background of incense, or when our voices blend into one, and mostly, when Christ comes to us in his Body and Blood, we feel that God has reached down to us and called us and challenged us to strive to incorporate his beauty into our daily lives, and to see his beauty in the lives of all those we meet.
